  • provide accurate and complete entry information; and
  • not be excluded under these Terms.

Employees, directors, contractors and immediate family members of PlateComps, Plate Seller Ltd, or anyone directly connected with the operation or administration of a competition may not enter.

PlateComps may ask for proof of age, identity, address and eligibility before confirming a winner or awarding a prize.

4. How to Enter

You can enter a competition either:

  • by purchasing an entry through the PlateComps website; or
  • by using the free postal entry route set out in these Terms.

To enter online, you must select the competition, choose the number of entries you wish to purchase, correctly answer the skill question, complete payment and submit your entry before the competition closes.

Only entries that include the correct answer to the skill question will be entered into the draw.

5. Skill Requirement

Each competition will include a question designed to test skill, knowledge or judgement.

You must answer the question correctly to be entered into the draw. Incorrect answers will not be entered.

PlateComps may reject entries where it reasonably believes the question has been bypassed, manipulated, answered by automated means, or otherwise abused.

6. Entry Limits

Each competition may have a maximum number of entries available and/or a maximum number of entries per person.

Any entry limits will be displayed on the relevant competition page.

PlateComps may cancel, reject or remove entries where it reasonably believes a person has attempted to exceed the stated entry limit, use multiple accounts, or gain an unfair advantage.

7. Free Postal Entry

A free postal entry route is available for each competition.

To enter by post, send your entry on a postcard or within an envelope to:

Postal entries are treated in the same way as paid entries, provided they are complete, legible, received in time and include the correct answer to the skill question.

Only one free postal entry may be submitted per envelope or postcard. Bulk entries, mechanically produced entries, incomplete entries, illegible entries or entries sent by any method other than post may be rejected.

No purchase is necessary to use the free postal entry route.

8. Payment

Paid entries must be paid for using one of the payment methods available on the website.

Payment processing may be handled by third-party payment providers. PlateComps does not store full card details.

An entry is not confirmed until payment has been successfully completed and the correct skill question answer has been submitted.

9. Closing Dates and Sell-Outs

Each competition will close on the date and time stated on the relevant competition page, unless it sells out earlier or is extended in accordance with these Terms.

PlateComps may close a competition early if all available entries are sold.

PlateComps may extend a competition only where this is stated on the competition page or where it is reasonably necessary due to technical, administrative, payment, supplier or legal reasons. Any extension will be clearly shown on the competition page.

If a competition does not sell out by the closing date, PlateComps may still proceed with the draw, extend the competition, offer a cash alternative, offer an alternative prize of similar value, or cancel the competition and refund paid entries. The option chosen will be made clear on the relevant competition page.

10. The Draw

After a competition closes, all valid entries with the correct answer will be entered into the draw.

The winner will be selected at random from all valid entries.

PlateComps may conduct the draw using a random number generator, third-party draw software, or another fair and transparent selection method.

The draw may be recorded, streamed or published for transparency.

11. Winners

The winner will be contacted using the details provided on their account or entry.

The winner may be required to provide proof of identity, age, address and eligibility before the prize is released.

If the winner does not respond within 14 days, fails verification, is found to be ineligible, or has breached these Terms, PlateComps may select an alternative winner from the remaining valid entries.

PlateComps’ decision is final in relation to the administration of the competition and the selection of the winner.

12. Publication of Winners

By entering a competition, you agree that if you win, PlateComps may publish your first name, surname initial, general location, winning ticket number, prize details, photographs, videos and/or draw footage for transparency and promotional purposes.

PlateComps will not publish your full address.

If you have a genuine safety or privacy concern about winner publication, you must contact PlateComps as soon as possible.

13. Prizes

The prize for each competition will be described on the relevant competition page.

Prizes may include private registration marks, cash prizes, vouchers, goods, services or other prizes.

Images used on the website may be for illustration only unless expressly stated otherwise.

Where the prize is a private registration mark, the winner is responsible for ensuring they are legally able to receive, assign or use the registration mark. PlateComps will provide reasonable assistance with the transfer or supply of the relevant entitlement documents, where applicable.

The winner is responsible for any tax, insurance, transfer, assignment, fitting, travel, fuel, delivery or other costs associated with the prize unless the competition page states otherwise.

14. Cash Alternative

A cash alternative may be offered for some competitions.

If a cash alternative is available, this will be stated on the relevant competition page.

PlateComps may, at its discretion, offer a cash alternative instead of the advertised prize where the original prize becomes unavailable, cannot reasonably be supplied, where the competition has not sold out, or where the competition page expressly allows this.

Unless stated otherwise, there is no automatic right to receive cash instead of the advertised prize.

15. Prize Delivery

PlateComps will aim to arrange prize delivery or transfer within a reasonable time after the winner has completed verification.

Delivery times may vary depending on the nature of the prize.

PlateComps is not responsible for delays caused by the winner failing to provide information, complete verification, accept delivery, or cooperate with any transfer process.

16. Refunds and Cancelled Competitions

Paid entries are generally non-refundable once submitted, unless:

  • the competition is cancelled by PlateComps;
  • PlateComps is unable to run the competition;
  • a refund is required by law; or
  • PlateComps decides, at its discretion, that a refund is appropriate.

If a competition is cancelled, PlateComps may refund paid entries or offer entry into an alternative competition.

If a competition does not sell out, PlateComps may proceed with the draw, extend the competition, offer a cash alternative, offer an alternative prize of similar value, or cancel the competition and refund paid entries.

PlateComps is not required to refund entries where a participant is disqualified for breaching these Terms.

17. Disqualification

PlateComps may reject, cancel or disqualify any entry or account where it reasonably believes that a person has:

  • provided false, incomplete or misleading information;
  • entered while under 18 or outside the United Kingdom;
  • used multiple accounts to avoid entry limits;
  • used bots, scripts, automation or other unfair methods;
  • attempted to manipulate the website, entry process, payment process or draw;
  • abused the free postal entry route;
  • made fraudulent payments or improper chargebacks;
  • behaved abusively towards PlateComps, its staff, suppliers or other users; or
  • otherwise breached these Terms.

PlateComps may suspend or close accounts where necessary to protect the fairness and integrity of competitions.

18. Website and Technical Issues

PlateComps will take reasonable steps to keep the website available and secure, but does not guarantee uninterrupted access.

PlateComps is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete, corrupted, misdirected or not received due to technical issues, postal delays, payment issues, internet failures, device problems or other circumstances outside its reasonable control.

19. Changes to Competitions

PlateComps may make reasonable changes to a competition where necessary, including where there is an error, technical issue, supplier issue, legal issue, payment issue or event outside its control.

Any material change will be communicated clearly on the website where reasonably possible.

PlateComps will not make changes that unfairly disadvantage participants without good reason.

20. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

Subject to the above, PlateComps is not liable for indirect losses, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of enjoyment, or losses arising from events outside its reasonable control.

21. Data Protection

PlateComps will process personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

Personal data may be used for account management, entry processing, payment administration, fraud prevention, winner verification, draw administration, prize fulfilment, legal compliance and winner publication.

22. Complaints

If you have a complaint about a competition, please contact: support@platecomps.com

Please include your name, account email address, the competition name, entry details and a clear explanation of your complaint.

PlateComps will aim to acknowledge complaints within a reasonable time and investigate them fairly.

23. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, unless consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

24. General

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue to apply.

PlateComps may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be published on the website.

By entering a competition, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms.
